The Henrietta Lacks House of Healing (HLHOH) is a 501c3 non-profit that provides transitional living, educational services and health resources in the greater Baltimore area in order to combat homelessness and recidivism by supporting re-entry into the community after recent release.
HLHOH empowers homeless and recently released individuals with support to facilitate re-entry into the greater Baltimore community through:
HLHOH achieves its objectives in partnership with the Baltimore City Community College,
Living Classrooms Foundation, community health centers, and local employers.
HLHOH also serves as the fiscal sponsor of the #HELA100 year-long global Centennial CELLebration honoring Henrietta Lacks led by The Lacks Family.
As the child of Henrietta’s second daughter Deborah Lacks, Alfred Lacks Carter Jr. started the Henrietta Lacks House of Healing to ensure there are equitable opportunities in Baltimore for marginalized men and women in the very community Henrietta raised her children. Today, Alfred serves as the Founder & President of the Henrietta Lacks House of Healing and is on a mission to empower individuals to find their true path in life.
